VARIOUS OF DRONE SHOTS OF TRUCKS ENTERING IN AREASUWAYDA, SYRIA - JULY 20: Syrian government provides humanitarian aid to all in the city of Suwayda, Minister of Emergency and Disaster Raid Saleh said on Sunday. The minister said the government takes care of citizens “regardless of their ethnicity” without discrimination. Stating that the ministry's teams are present at the humanitarian crossing point and have evacuated two families so far, Saleh said, “We welcomed civilians who came on foot from Suwayda from the crossing point. God willing, we are trying to evacuate some families who are still staying in tent areas.” Pointing out that the infrastructure needs to be repaired in order to improve the humanitarian situation in Suwayda, Salih said, "There is damage to the electricity network. There is a shortage of fuel for communication towers, and there is also a lack of fuel for water stations." Saleh said that due to the infrastructure problems, technical teams should enter the region and start work, so that they can prepare the ground for the improvement of the humanitarian situation in Suwayda. While Syrian Red Crescent trucks entered Suwayda for humanitarian aid, ambulances from the Ministry of Civil Defense and the Ministry of Health were prevented from entering. Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime last December, Israel intensified its air campaign in Syria and declared a buffer zone between the two countries defunct, alongside the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. Assad, Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia in December, ending the Baath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963. A new transitional administration led by President Ahmad al-Sharaa was formed in January.
