Tricycle rider carries stranded pet dog across flooded road
This is the heartwarming moment a tricycle rider carried his stranded pet dog across a flooded road.
John Keith and his friends were stuck in knee-deep floodwater along with the seemingly distressed brown Aspin pooch outside a mall in Cebu, the Philippines.
Footage shows the canine whimpering and yelping at its owner, who was wearing a raincoat and manoeuvring his bicycle with a sidecar on July 16.
The man then signalled for the dog to hop in, but it refused, prompting the driver to lift the animal and place it in the container cart.
He then put its front paws onto the bar to prevent the pooch from drowning as he navigated the waterlogged road.
John recalled that the owner had gone looking for his dog, thinking it had swum away in the flood. However, the pup was just hiding nearby.
The Philippines and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries are entering their annual monsoon season, marked by soaring temperatures followed by intense rainstorms.
The region's low-lying geography, inadequate drainage systems, and rapid urbanisation make it especially vulnerable to flooding.
Limited infrastructure often struggles to handle the heavy rainfall, resulting in widespread flash floods.
