A schoolgirl was shocked to find a pair of monitor lizards chasing each other through her bedroom.

Footage captured by Rachma shows the two reptiles crawling onto a colourful frog-themed mattress in West Java, Indonesia, on July 4.

One of the creatures climbed onto the pillows before slipping out of the room, while the other lingered on the foam for a while before slowly making its way out of the home in Bekasi Regency.

The panicked filmer stood on a table and refused to come down, briefly panning the camera back to the bed to show the mess left by the uninvited guests.

She said: 'Two lizards emerged from a roadside drain and caused a commotion.'

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Indonesia. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite, which sometimes carries harmful bacteria.
