Storyline: Lotus-themed tourism blooms in E China town [Voice_over] Earlier this month, the lotus fields of Wufu Town in south China's Fujian Province, burst into a vibrant shade of pink. The mildly humid climate and fertile soil provide the perfect conditions for lotus cultivation. From lotus growing to lotus meal preparation and related tourism, an entire industry exists around the plant, which means big business for locals. [Sound_bite] Liu Xuchun, young entrepreneur: "Since we started business on short video platforms, we have been able to sell around 1,000 boxes of lotus flowers a day online. Each box contains 10 lotus flowers, so that's about 10,000 flowers picked every day." [Voice_over] In addition to its flowers, lotus seeds are now in season. Every morning, farmers collect lotus pods, processing them into dried seeds. [Sound_bite] Lian Lilai, local farmer: "We're currently producing about 400 kg of dried lotus seeds per day. As the white lotus matures, our production will continue to increase." [Voice_over] The town now boasts more than 666 hectares of lotus fields, with the lotus industrial chain generating about 14 million U.S. dollars annually.
