China: Chinese cooling appliances crack global markets with tailored innovations
Storyline: Chinese cooling appliances crack global markets with tailored innovations [Voice_over] Chinese cooling appliances are experiencing a robust export boom, fueled by customized innovation and technological advancements. Henan Combine Electrical Appliances, based in China's refrigeration hub, Henan Province, specializes in customizing large freezers for global markets. The company's managers say giant freezers are seeing a surge in demand, with April's sales growing by more than 300 percent compared to last year. The company says orders in the first half of 2025 surpassed 90 percent of 2024's total. [Sound_bite] Jiang Xiaoyun, general manager, Henan Combine Electrical Appliances Company: "The demand for freezers continues to grow in Africa and other markets. The customers considered 800-liter or 1,000-liter freezers large, so they were very surprised when they saw our 2,500-liter freezers." [Voice_over] In addition to size flexibility, the company also collaborates with local partners to enhance the freezers' voltage. To address Africa's heat challenges and unplanned voltage fluctuations, the company made freezers with a wide voltage tolerance. [Sound_bite] Liao Xiaoning, deputy chief engineer, Henan Asbeila Refrigeration Company: "By creating new plans and prototypes, we've developed a cost-effective and reliable solution to meet customer needs." [Voice_over] Industry data shows that China's refrigerator exports were up by about five percent from January to May this year at about three billion U.S. dollars.
