A training jet crashed into a school campus in Bangladesh today, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

Officials confirmed that the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft went down in Uttara, Dhaka, on Monday afternoon, July 21.

The Inter-Services Public Relations department said: 'Bangladesh Air Force's F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed in Uttara. The aircraft took off at 13:06.'

Footage from the scene shows a large fire and thick black smoke rising from the wreckage, with panicked locals seen running through the grounds of Milestone School and College.

Military personnel and firefighters responded quickly, working alongside residents to extinguish the blaze.

Local media reported that at least 13 people were injured.

A school spokesman told local media: 'The plane fell on the gate and crashed nearby. A class was in session where the plane crashed.'

Officials said an investigation is now underway.

The F-7 BGI is a Chinese-made fighter training jet, widely used by the Bangladesh Air Force for pilot training and light combat duties.
