This is the dramatic moment a pet dog escaped unscathed as a 30-tonne boulder came crashing down onto a family's driveway.

The black aspin named Moana had been resting in her metal cage when the massive sandstone rock rolled down a mountainside in Benguet province, the Philippines.

CCTV footage shows the terrifying scene as Moana broke free just seconds before the boulder flattened her dog house on July 19.

She darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the boulder as it slammed into the driveway, crushing her cage and a parked car.

She could be heard barking from under a wooden board that protected her. Footage shows her today, July 21, bounding around at home.

Owner Conniey said: ‘We heard a loud rumbling from inside the house. It all happened so fast. I thought it was the end for us.'

Moana was seen emerging from beside the wrecked vehicle and sprinting across the road to safety.

No one else was injured, and Moana was reunited with Conniey shortly afterwards.

Conniey added: ‘We were so relieved to find her safe. We really thought we had lost her. She is so smart, her instincts saved her.'

Moana was later seen playing in the unaffected area of the property on July 21.

While the car was destroyed, the front of the house sustained only partial damage. No injuries were reported.

The incident came as Typhoon Wipha barrelled through northern Philippines heading to the South China Sea. The storm left three people dead and affected hundreds of thousands before moving on to Vietnam and neighbouring countries.

Wipha weakened into a tropical storm as it made landfall in China today.
