Double the love! Identical twin brothers marry identical twin sisters in rare wedding in India
In a heartwarming celebration of symmetry and shared destiny, twin brothers tied the knot with twin sisters in a traditional ceremony, marking the coming together of two families through a perfectly paired match.
The wedding took place in the Ettumanoor temple, Kottayam, Kerala, southern India, on June 20.
Visuals from the wedding capture a heartwarming and picturesque scene. The two identical twin sisters, the brides, are beautifully adorned in matching traditional attire, embellished with gold jewellery and fresh flowers woven into their hair. Their symmetry is striking as they sit side by side, radiating joy and grace.
Their twin grooms, Sarath and Sujith, also mirror each other perfectly—dressed in identical white and gold traditional outfits—as they step out of the car and make their way to the wedding venue. Traditional music plays in the background, adding to the celebratory mood.
The ceremony unfolds in perfect harmony. The brides and grooms sit on decorated pedestals, smiling brightly as the priest guides the rituals and the bride’s father performs the ceremonial duties. In a single, graceful motion, one groom ties the sacred Hindu chain called the mangal sutra around his bride’s neck, as relatives shower the couple with flower petals to mark the sacred moment. Soon after, the wedding garlands are exchanged with beaming smiles.
Moments later, the same rituals are performed by the second couple, mirroring the first with perfect synchrony.
After the ceremonies, the two brides in the centre, their husbands on either side, emerge from the temple holding hands, united not just by marriage, but by a rare and deep bond of love and identity. With joy on their faces and promises made for a lifetime together, they step into a day filled with celebration, laughter, and memories to cherish forever.
At the end of the ceremony, during the emotional farewell, a funny moment lightened the mood. Amid teary goodbyes, one of the grooms accidentally reached for his brother’s wife’s hand, momentarily mistaking her for his own bride. Realising the mix-up instantly, he quickly turned and embraced his actual wife, prompting laughter all around. Just seconds later, the other groom also adjusted his position after noticing he had been standing next to the wrong bride—a detail made clear by his brother’s blunder. The spontaneous switch turned what is usually a tearful parting into a moment of shared joy and laughter, perfectly capturing the warmth and closeness between the two couples and their families.
The unique wedding ceremony took place on Friday at the historic Ettumanoor temple, drawing attention for its rare twin-to-twin union. Twin brothers KP Sarath and KP Sujith, from Paruthipra Padma Nivas in Shoranur, tied the knot with twin sisters Dr. Sridevi and Dr. Srilakshmi, both Ayurvedic doctors from Indira, Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram.
Sarath and Sujith, both research scholars, had reportedly long dreamed of marrying twin sisters—a wish fulfilled in their match with Sridevi and Srilakshmi, who share not just genes but also a strong academic background in Ayurveda.
Captured by R.K. Photography, visuals from the wedding showcased the couple dressed in identical traditional attire, highlighting the visual harmony of the event. The ceremony blended cultural tradition, scholarly aspirations, and an extraordinary connection between two families.
Adding a light-hearted twist to the emotional farewell, a mix-up during the send-off drew laughter from guests when one of the grooms accidentally reached for the wrong bride’s hand, mistaking his brother’s wife for his own. The brothers later admitted that the confusion occurred because Sridevi’s signature mole was hidden under bridal makeup. A video of the moment, shared by the groom's photography team, quickly went viral and caught the attention of netizens.
“We were feeling emotional, and in that moment of sadness, a funny mistake happened. It wasn’t planned. It just happened—and the cameraman didn’t miss a beat,” the brothers shared.
This wedding has resonated across Kerala and beyond as a celebration of love, tradition, and the extraordinary bond shared by twins.
