US: Coast Guard Lifts Injured Sailor From Cargo Ship Off Oahu Coast

Honolulu, United States - July 19, 2025 On July 19, 2025, a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew airlifted a 41-year-old crew member from the cargo ship Ea Chara, positioned offshore Oahu. The medevac was conducted by a team from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point after a report came in at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. According to Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu watchstanders, the injured individual had reportedly suffered a fractured arm and a possible head injury. The call for help came from Eastaway Ship Management regarding the crew member aboard the Ea Chara, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship measuring 892 feet.
