Fairford, United Kingdom - July 19, 2025 The Royal Air Force’s E-7 Wedgetail AEW Mk1 took part in its very first flypast alongside the world-famous Red Arrows aerobatic display team at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in Fairford, Gloucester. After the joint flypast, the Wedgetail performed a ‘touch and go’ landing on the runway before heading to MOD Boscombe Down. There, it will continue with further system testing. The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, represent the excellence of the RAF both domestically and internationally. Comprising pilots and over 100 highly trained support staff, each pilot brings fast-jet operational experience flying Tornado, Typhoon, or Harrier aircraft. This expertise allows the RAF to maintain air security and protect the nation’s interests throughout the year. The team is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
