A Thai couple transformed their bathroom into a mini-museum filled with their children's favourite toys.

Monchai Charoenapisak, 49, and his wife Manee Charoenapisak, 47, built the heartwarming time capsule in their home in Ratchaburi, Thailand.

The four square metre lavatory, which the couple have dubbed 'Happy Toilet', has shelves lined with figurines, plushies, and keepsakes featuring popular characters like Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, and Doraemon.

Monchai said the sentimental shrine, which includes some of his own boyhood toys from when he was just 10, serves as a refuge for him to relax and look back on his past.

He said: 'Many people I know often ask why I don't display things around the house or set them up in a fancy room.

'Personally, I see the bathroom as a private, quiet space, a place where I can sit and look at these things and think back to my childhood. It's like a power that helps recharge my heart. The more I see things that my children used, the happier I feel.

'Most of the things I keep are old toys and dolls, including my children's childhood items. Most importantly, there is the first love letter that I wrote to my wife, and the birthday messages that my children have written to me.

'Even though every item is an old item that has almost no material value, it has emotional value, full of memories.

'Therefore, every part of the collection is like a 'family journal', and the more I see it, the more I think of the happiness of the past, when we all used to be together. When one day my children or grandchildren grow up and come back to see it, they will understand why their father kept it.'

His wife Manee said she initially thought the toilet would be an ordinary one - until her husband began bringing construction materials inside.

She said: 'At first, I was surprised by the idea, but because I understand his sentimental nature, I didn't object and even helped him grow the collection.

'The toys you see in the bathroom are only part of the collection. Since space is limited, the rest are still safely stored in boxes.

'In the past, I used to tease him by secretly stealing the dolls and hiding them. But in the end, I would always get caught because he could remember every single one of them.'

Manee added that though her husband's hobby might seem 'trivial or childlike', she sees his efforts as a heartwarming way to build a strong bond with his family.
