This is the heartwarming moment a puppy tangled in a garden net was rescued by a neighbour.

Ebby Cuela Evangelista heard the pooch whining outside his home in Pampanga, the Philippines.

Alerted by the noise, he investigated the backyard and saw the hapless dog stuck in the green mesh on July 17.

This prompted him to immediately step outside and help to release the troubled little canine.

Footage shows Ebby cutting through the net using a pair of scissors while the soaking wet puppy whimpers as it lies on its back.

After minutes of laborious effort, the rescued animal stood up and carefully walked along the pavement, seemingly looking for its mother.

The dog reportedly did not sustain any injuries from the incident.

Ebby said: 'I heard the puppy crying the night before, and I initially thought it was just hungry. But I heard it again and decided to check what was happening outside, only to discover it stuck.

'The pup is okay now and was adopted by one of our neighbours.'
