OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. — A brief but dangerous vehicle pursuit ended safely June 30 after Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Kainen Nance used a tactical vehicle intervention to stop a fleeing suspect in rural Ottawa County.

Trooper Nance initially attempted a traffic stop on a maroon SUV due to a defective windshield and a seatbelt violation. The driver, identified as Brandi York of Pineville, Missouri, refused to yield. Joined by Trooper Haven Clemons, Nance ended the chase just over a minute later using the maneuver, a method recently emphasized by Chief Joe Williams to reduce public risk.

York was arrested and booked into the Ottawa County Jail on multiple charges, including attempting to elude law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, and driving with a suspended license. Authorities also discovered York had fled officers weeks earlier in McDonald County, Missouri, where she now faces additional charges. A teenage passenger in the vehicle was released to a guardian.
