SHOTLIST: SUWAYDA, SYRIA (JULY 22, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS DRONE SHOTS OF LARGE CONVOY LEAVING CITYSUWAYDA, SYRIA - JULY 22, 2025: The second convoy of 11 buses, formed to evacuate Bedouin families, departed from Druze-controlled area in Syria's southern Suwayda city on Tuesday, July 22. The convoy is part of a second wave of evacuations from areas controlled by Hecri‑aligned armed groups since clashes erupted on July 13. Druze fighters opened fire on internal security forces at a checkpoint near Valga village, wounding three personnel, as the convoy prepared to depart along Highway 109 toward Dera. A UN delegation is preparing to enter the city to oversee the resettlement process. Evacuation plans include relocating Christian families. On July 21, the first convoy used four buses and about 20 private vehicles to transport Bedouin families to Dera province. On July 13, clashes broke out between Bedouin Arab tribes and armed Druze groups in the city of Suwayda. Violence escalated, and Israeli airstrikes followed, including on Syrian military positions and infrastructure in Damascus. Israel cited the “protection of Druze communities” as a pretext for its attacks. Most Druze leaders in Syria, however, have publicly rejected any foreign interference and reaffirmed their commitment to a unified Syrian state. In response to the escalating violence, the Syrian government announced four ceasefire deals in Suwayda, the latest of which was brokered Saturday. The new Syrian government has been working to reestablish order nationwide since the ouster of former President Bashar Assad on Dec. 8, 2024.
