On early Tuesday morning, five workers were stranded on the second floor of a flooded factory building in Xiyuan Township, but were later successfully evacuated by firefighters. In Fujian's Lianjiang County, a major landslide blocked the entrance to the Hongxialing Tunnel, a key route linking highways. Over 2,000 cubic meters of earth buried one side of the tunnel, halting traffic. With excavators and transport trucks brought in for emergency clearance, it is expected to resume the tunnel traffic by the end of Wednesday. "One loader is clearing the debris, and two are leveling the ground, so as to reopen the tunnel as soon as possible," said Lin Chenggang, head of Lianjiang County Highway Maintenance Department. Heavy rainfall has also battered Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County in Hubei Province of central China. Roads, bridges, and power lines sustained damage, and floodwaters entered homes. The Yuyang River basin saw an average of over 110 milliliters of rainfall, so the river has overflowed its banks. Multiple departments carried out evacuations and equipment repairs. As water levels receded on Tuesday morning, restoration work began. In Danzhou, Hainan Province, water levels in a local river surged rapidly, leaving two men trapped near a bridge.
