Los Angeles, United States - July 23, 2025 07/22/2025 10:05 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A body was discovered late Tuesday night following a brush fire that scorched a field behind a gated Santa Clarita neighborhood, officials said. The grim find came shortly after 10 p.m. as Los Angeles County Fire Department crews worked to contain a half-acre blaze in heavy brush behind homes near the intersection of Penlon Way and Soledad Canyon Road. After extinguishing the flames, firefighters located the remains amid the scorched terrain and immediately notified law enforcement. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded and quickly cordoned off the area as an active death investigation got underway. As of early Wednesday morning, the identity of the deceased individual remains unknown. Homicide detectives are handling the investigation. The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
