Hero neighbours save dog stuck in floods from typhoon
This is the heartwarming moment hero neighbours rescued a pet dog stuck in floods from Typhoon Wipha in northern Thailand.
Footage shows a local carrying the stranded pooch through raging floods as heavy rains inundated Nan today.
The man lifted the canine, seen in the video clinging for life on the fence of its home, and waded through chest-deep floodwaters to safety.
Another neighbour, Ployrawee Anurak, said: 'This happened in the Ban Prakoed village.
'The dog's owners are two elderly people who live in the village. Their house is already flooded up to the second floor, so they probably couldn't save the dog in time.
'I woke up and saw from the balcony that it was trying to climb up the fence since 6 am, as the water kept rising. I tried to contact rescue workers to help, and we coordinated for about two to three hours.
'Now, the rescuers have arrived and taken the dog out of the floodwaters, as seen in the video.'
Typhoon Wipha lashed Thailand with heavy rains and fierce winds before being downgraded into a tropical depression.
However, the Thai Meteorological Department on Monday predicted more heavy rain and high seas until July 24. It added around half of Thailand will be battered with increased rainfall due to Wipha's remnants.
