Scooter rider narrowly avoids being crushed when car wash roof collapses
This is the heart-stopping moment a scooter rider narrowly escaped when a roof collapsed during Typhoon Wipha in Thailand.
The female rider stopped to take shelter from fierce squalls when the roof of the Wow Wash coin-operated car wash in Phang Nga gave way.
CCTV footage shows violent gusts blowing through the area before the roof crashed down in a shower of debris just a few feet away from the driver.
The shocked driver revved up her scooter and drove away uninjured after the incident on Monday, July 21.
The car wash owner said: 'In just a few seconds, the roof came falling down. It was like something from a movie.'
Typhoon Wipha has been pounding Thailand with strong winds and torrential downpours.
The Thai Meteorological Department on Monday predicted more heavy rain and high seas until July 24. It added around half of Thailand will be battered with increased rainfall due to the typhoon, which made landfall in China's southern Guangdong province on July 20.
Wipha has been downgraded to a tropical storm after hitting mainland China.
