Power bank explodes in flames inside family's living room
This is the dramatic moment a power bank suddenly exploded inside a family's home in Thailand.
Nattaya Nantasen was with her husband, Suchat Siriboot, when the portable charger blew up without warning at their home in Bangkok, on July 19.
CCTV footage shows the device emitting smoke with a loud hiss as sparks flew near the couple's work desk.
It then burst into flames, filling the living room with smoke, before Suchat put out the fire with a damp cloth and an extinguisher.
Nattaya said: ‘While I was making coffee orders and preparing desserts, it suddenly happened. The power bank suddenly exploded.
‘As you can see in the video, nothing hit or disturbed it. It just exploded on its own while sitting on the work table, right next to several electrical devices like the monitor and laptop. It was really terrifying.
‘Nothing was seriously damaged, and thankfully, my child wasn't around at the time, otherwise it would have been even more frightening.
‘None of the other items were damaged, but I was truly shocked.
‘This power bank was from a well-known brand — genuine, under warranty, and bought from a reputable store. But accidents can always happen.
‘I had used it for about 2 years. The battery wasn't swollen or degraded at all.'
