Locals were left shocked after a tornado was seen swirling over a village in Yorkshire, England.

Footage shows the twister spiralling in the sky as it formed over Marsden, in the Colne Valley, Monday evening, July 21.

The filmer said: 'That's the first time I've seen one.'

Authorities said the UK typically experiences around 30 tornadoes each year. While most are brief and relatively weak, they can still cause damage if they pass through built-up areas.
