Georgia: British teen appears in Tbilisi court over drug possession charges
-TBILISI, GEORGIA - JULY 24, 2025: Bella Mae Culley, a 19-year-old British citizen arrested for drug possession at Tbilisi International Airport, was referred to an additional trial following her third court appearance at Tbilisi City Court on Thursday, July 24. Her lawyer, Malkhaz Salakaia, said Culley pleaded not guilty, claiming she was tortured and coerced into transporting the substances before departing from Thailand. Culley claimed she was unaware of the contents of her luggage, stating it had been packed by others. Her trip included a connecting flight. She also disclosed that she is pregnant and displayed burn marks on her right hand, which she alleged were evidence of abuse she had suffered.
