Camarillo, United States - July 15, 2025 Earlier this month, Ventura County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Camarillo. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from an upstairs residential unit. They quickly began attacking the fire while conducting a search of the home. Residents reported their pet cat was missing inside. Fire Engineer Richard Randolph discovered the cat hiding under furniture and safely brought it outside. With help from Firefighter Paramedic Nicole Molen and Captain David Schwab, Randolph administered oxygen to the cat using a specialized pet mask. After a few minutes of oxygen therapy, the cat showed significant improvement and was reunited with its grateful owner, who arranged for follow-up veterinary care. The Ventura County Fire Department expressed gratitude to all firefighters involved and emphasized their commitment to residents and their pets during emergencies.
