Photographs and videos show the luxurious lobby and plush rooms inside a luxury four-star hotel which been converted to house migrants.

Barriers have been installed outside The Britannia International Hotel in London's Canary Wharf after a second night of protests outside the venue where rooms can go for up to £425 a night, reports say.

And now the interior of the hotel have been revealed in videos and photos taken in September last year.

Huge chandeliers dangle from the vaulted ceiling of the lobby, and the huge wrap-around balcony boasts impressive views of the city.

The suite boasts a spiral staircase and gold-coloured taps, with a Chesterfield-style sofa and towels fashioned into swans.

A woman, 46, who does not want to be named, took the videos and photos when she stayed at the hotel for a friend's birthday.

The pair paid £150 via Groupon for a room but were upgraded to a £400-a-night suite by the manager on the night, she said.

The teaching assistant said: "We stayed there for a special occasion."

It's not something we could usually afford, so it does anger me that people are getting this level of luxury for free and every day.

"It's just really disheartening. We have people in the UK who are desperately struggling to pay for food, gas and electricity."

"These people, including veterans and older people, are going cold and hungry through the winter while people who haven't worked and paid to be here are being housed in such luxury, with a cozy roof over their heads and food on the table."

"I'm absolutely against racism, and I support people being able to move to another country, but I do feel they should be able to offer needed skilled work."

"I work hard for not a great wage."

When you hear about things like this it is very upsetting.

"It will cost a fortune either to adapt this hotel and take out all the luxuries, and or to pay for them to stay there."

"It's not like this is a Travelodge or a disused holiday park."

The mum-of-two lived in the Canary-Wharf area for 25 years and worked there for 15.

Protests have broken out across the country after a resident of the Bell Hotel, in Epping Essex, also being used to house immigrants, was charged with raping a girl.
