Buddhist monk raises piglet from tiny baby into huge boar
A Buddhist monk raised a piglet from a tiny baby into a huge boar.
Phra Kaorop Yatiko has been taking care of the pig named Pancake ever since it was donated to the Khao Lak Chang Monastery in Trang province, Thailand five years ago.
They thought it was a miniature pig that could fit into a bag, but noticed Pancake grew bigger, up to 120kg over the years.
But the monks showed a fondness for the pig and allowed it to roam around the temple grounds and nearby places.
Footage shows the affectionate monk feeding Pancake with banana and bread from a bucket.
The monk said: ‘I like taking care of Pancake. We have grown closer over the years as I have taken it under my care since it was young. I am also afraid that Pancake would not be safe elsewhere, so I make sure to provide his needs myself.'
Phra Kaorop added that the pig loved bread, especially Chinese pastry mooncakes, so he always set aside pieces for it to enjoy when they had it.
The monk added, ‘Pancake is like a celebrity here. Some children and the elderly are friendly to it and give it food when they see it.'
