Hero neighbours rushed to rescue a pet husky that was left dangling from a balcony by its leash.

CCTV footage shows the dog falling off the ledge and being suspended by the collar around its neck outside a home in Chongqing, China.

The husky struggled desperately to free itself but after nearly three minutes, its movements began to weaken.

A resident quickly ran over to hold the pooch up and prevent it from being strangled.

A little girl also entered the property and called for more help until the owner arrived with a knife.

Together, the two adults cut the rope and carried the canine to safety. It was unharmed and later reunited with its family.

Pet owner Tuo said: ‘My dog jumped down to try and join his friend to play. I'm relieved that help came before it was too late.'
