The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 59,676, with 143,965 injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted in October 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Friday. In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli military operations in the enclave have claimed 89 lives and injured 467 others, including nine people who were receiving aid supplies, according to the statement. The health authorities said that since early March this year, the death toll in Gaza resulting from Israel's continuing and tight blockade has reached 122, including 83 children. Hospitals across the enclave have been admitting patients with starvation-related conditions, while in the Strip, 900,000 children are facing a food crisis, with 70,000 already showing signs of malnutrition. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) earlier warned that between March and June, the malnutrition rate among children under the age of five in Gaza surged by 100 percent.
