DRONE SHOT OF APOLLON TEMPLE ANTALYA, TÜRKİYE - JULY 25: Thanks to the night museum, the Side Ancient City in Antalya, Türkiye welcomes more visitors in the evenings, especially during the summer months when the weather is hot. The city, often referred to as the "Cradle of Civilizations" attracts millions of domestic and foreign tourists annually, showcasing not only its natural beauty but also its rich cultural heritage. The region's unique historical sites have been open to visitors after sunset as part of the "Night Museums" initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In a city where temperatures often exceed seasonal norms, local and international tourists who prefer daytime beach holidays can now visit archaeological sites in the cool of the evening. Ahmet Ozden, Mediterranean Regional Representative of Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency said that tourists, visiting Antalya during the busy months of June, July, and August often find it difficult to visit ancient sites due to high temperatures. “Side sees more visitors when night museum opens,” he added. Visitors can now enjoy the illuminated grand structures of the ancient city under the starry sky and immerse themselves in the enchanting atmosphere of the archaeological site. The ancient city of Side, founded in the 7th century BC, is one of the most important historical settlements in history. This ancient city, which is part of the Pamphylia region, first came under the rule of the Lydian Kingdom of the Early Empire and remained under this rule for many years. It later passed under the Persian kingdom and then under the Macedonian king after Alexander the Great showed interest in the region. It was also under the rule of the Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans, making it one of the most important historical cities.
