A pet owner in Akranes, Iceland, returned home to a nightmare situation where one her dog's explosive diarrhoea had left the house covered.

She told Newsflare: "We have two dogs Mikki and Kaila. Mikki is just a puppy so he is left in his playpen while we work but Kaila is free around the house.

"One day I come home from work, I open the laundry room door, which leads me inside, and just the smell was insanely bad. I can see droplets of poop covering the kitchen floor.

"Kaila greets me so I can see she is ok - I walk further into the house when I see the dining room is covered with poop, then I walk back I start to see poop splashing up on the doors, the kitchen interiors and at this point I am in full blown shock.

"I walk in further and BOOM the worst case is happening - there is poop splashes all the way upstairs, on the carpet and insane amount on the walls going up.

"This is horror, I started to hyper ventilate at this point - I go back downstairs and look into my dining room - more horror more shock - there are poop splashes all over our sofa and the rug on the floor.

"I just wanted to give up on life right then and there. I send the video to my boyfriend saying 'MAYDAY MAYDAY' - then i call my mom crying.. they both came and we started the mission of cleaning. Oh and Kaila is fine btw - this was a stomache virus and she is fully recovered."
