Initial radio traffic indicated the fire may have started as a backyard working fire before spreading to both residences, possibly involving three. The flames appeared to reach the attics, producing heavy smoke visible in the area. No injuries have been reported. Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire Department responded to the scene. Later, law enforcement was requested for a possible drug lab or grow house, though it remains unclear if that was directly connected to the fire or the incident.
