An F-18 pilot performing at the Gijón air festival narrowly avoided a crash after encountering a flock of birds mid-flight.

The birds suddenly appeared in the jet’s path, prompting the pilot to execute an immediate evasive maneuver. The action was part of standard safety procedures to protect both the pilot and the spectators.

According to the Air and Space Force, the pilot reacted within milliseconds and with exceptional professionalism, preventing a dangerous collision.

Despite the close call, the maneuver was successful, and the airshow continued without interruption.

Organizers praised the pilot’s skill and emphasized that safety remains the top priority during every aerial demonstration.

They also thanked the crowd for their energy and confidence during the event.
