Storyline: World's largest integrated green hydrogen and ammonia plant operational in China [Voice_over] In the windswept plains of western Jilin, a groundbreaking project is now online — China's State Power Investment Corporation, or SPIC, has launched the world's largest integrated wind-solar-hydrogen-ammonia plant in Da’an. Designated as a national clean hydrogen demonstration project, the facility integrates 800 megawatts of renewable energy — 700 megawatts from wind and 100 megawatts from solar — to produce green ammonia at an industrial scale. The project sets several global records, including the world’s largest direct-current microgrid for hydrogen production and the largest solid-state hydrogen storage system. It also meets international green ammonia certification standards, making it a pioneer in sustainable energy manufacturing. [Sound_bite] Song Shulin, Project Director, State Power Investment Corporation: "At full capacity, we can produce 32,000 tons of green hydrogen and 180,000 tons of green ammonia each year. This helps cut carbon emissions by around 650,000 tons annually and saves roughly 230,000 tons of standard coal — that’s equivalent to the yearly electricity use of nearly half a million households." [Voice_over] Before going online, the project had already gone global. SPIC's green hydrogen platform, Jilin Electric Power, signed cooperation deals with partners like EDF China, PetroChina International, Japan's Itochu, and Dutch firm Vopak. On launch day, the first shipment of green ammonia was sent to international buyers — marking China's entry into the global clean fuel market. [Sound_bite] Jean-Philippe Lamarcade, Chairman, EDF China: "Electricity and decarbonization of the energy sector are the keys to responding to climate change. What SPIC has achieved here in Jilin today is a really key step forward in demonstrating that it is possible to produce cost-effective green ammonia to be used in the heavy industry worldwide. This is a very important project for the electric and heavy industry worldwide." [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
