An apartment block fire left at least three people injured in Singapore today.

The blaze erupted in an HDB flat at Block 229 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh at around 1 pm on Tuesday, July 29.

Authorities said flames were raging inside a unit on the 10th floor when fire crews arrived. The fire then spread upward to a neighbouring flat on the 11th floor.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said: 'The fire in the 10th-floor unit has been brought under control with two water jets.'

Shortly after, emergency responders forced entry into the affected unit on the 11th floor and were actively battling the flames as of 3:22 pm.

Dramatic footage shows the fire engulfing part of the building, with thick plumes of smoke billowing from the windows.

Three individuals were treated for smoke inhalation and burn injuries before being transported to Singapore General Hospital.

Officials said an investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
