Located in Matruh Governorate in northwestern Egypt, the oasis has preserved its traditional way of life thanks to its isolated location. The region hosts numerous underground water sources, wells for drinking and irrigation, four large salt pools, and hot springs known for their therapeutic properties. Siwa Oasis is visited for is popular for its highly saline, turquoise-colored lakes however especially it is believed that the lakes offer healing benefits for rheumatism and dermatologic disorders. Tour packages ranging from three to seven days are offered for visitors wishing to experience the salt lakes and traditional hot sand baths.
