Embankment breaks amid rising river floods in Vietnam
This is the dramatic moment an embankment collapsed amid rising river floods in Vietnam.
Locals were left stranded when the motorway eroded due to continuous heavy rain at the Thai Binh River in Vinh Thuan, Kien Giang.
Footage shows men in raincoats standing on the other side of the washed-out pathway as strong winds and rainfall battered the area on July 22.
Hundreds of families living in a 30-hectare farm area were immediately evacuated as floodwaters surged into residential homes.
Meanwhile, in An Hung, the Khue Bridge overflowed, inundating the surrounding area.
Locals reportedly built a temporary barrier with sandbags along Provincial Road 345 to prevent further flooding.
Authorities said the region was hit by heavy downpours lasting over an hour, resulting in widespread flooding across several roads.
The most severely affected areas were in central Dalat City, including Phan Dinh Phung, To Ngoc Van, Hai Thuong, Hoang Dieu, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Nguyen An Ninh, and Yet Kieu streets.
Typhoon Wipha made landfall in northern Vietnam on July 22, weakening into a tropical storm while dumping torrential rain across the country.
The storm caused at least three fatalities, left one person missing, and inflicted widespread damage to homes and crops.
