A protective mother brown bear charged at and attacked a teenaged male bear just metres away from a group of tourists near Chinitna Bay, Alaska.

The filmer, Brad Josephs, told Newsflare: "A female Alaska brown bear with two 6 month old cubs was fishing for salmon when a teenage male walks down the opposite bank.

"The mama bear defends her fishing spot by warning him with threatening body language, then charges and attacks him. The male leaves the area and mom returns to her cubs.

"This was right in front of a group of bear viewers who were watching the river when the mama. Who we call Bearnice, decided to settle in very close by. These bears are accustomed to bear viewers and never hurt the people."
