What began as a scenic hike to the Stoddard Canyon Falls turned into an unexpected splash for Lauren and Sarah Walsh, whose video documenting the moment has gained widespread attention.

The pair were hiking the Barrett-Stoddard Canyon Trail, a short but picturesque 1.2-mile round trip known for its lush canyon views and access to the Baldy Slide Waterfall, when one of them ventured closer to the water for a better photo. A misstep on a wet rock sent her tumbling into the pool below, soaked but unharmed, and thankfully, the camera survived.

I was hiking along the Barrett-Stoddard Canyon Trail—a short 1.2-mile round trip—but packed with gorgeous views. We were on a mission to see the waterfall known as Stoddard, and everything was going smoothly… until it wasn’t. As I got closer to the water for a better shot, my foot slipped on a wet rock and—boom—I was in the water. Totally soaked, totally unexpected, but at least the camera survived.
