Rhino rubbing up against a log to help remove mud and ticks

Buy video

I love this video clip where we were on a Safari in Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve with Tim Brown Tours (Durban, South Africa) and we spotted this Rhino. He was having a good rub up against a broken branch of a tree.
The interesting thing about this is that once Rhino have wallowed in the mud it obviously begins to dry and the Ticks on there body cannot breath. The ticks cant breath because the clay particles in the soil/mud wallow hold the mud together so that they Ticks cant get in oxygen. This then means they release themselves from the body of the Rhino (In this case) and get stuck in the drying mud. The Rhino then rubs against a tree, branch or stone to remove the mud which in turn removes the Ticks which are parasites allowing the Rhinos health to not deteriorate.
