OBAIDA LAYING ON BED (TWO SHOTS)GAZA, PALESTINE - JULY 28: Ten-year-old Obaida al-Karra, who was paralyzed in an Israeli airstrike while fleeing with his family, is facing life-threatening health complications due to malnutrition, dehydration and lack of medical treatment. Obaida is suffering from widespread infections and severe skin rashes, with his condition deteriorating rapidly amid the ongoing blockade. His family is urging the international community to push for the reopening of border crossings so the child can receive critical care abroad. Hospitals across Gaza continue to struggle with dire shortages of food, medicine and supplies, leaving many vulnerable children without access to adequate treatment. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 147 people, including 88 children, have died of starvation since Israel launched its relentless offensive in October 2023. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has killed more than 60,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October. The unrelenting bombardment has devastated the enclave and triggered a deepening hunger crisis. On Monday, Israeli rights groups B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, citing the systematic destruction of Palestinian society and the deliberate dismantling of its healthcare system. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
