Fans gathered in the city center to pay tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman, who passed away at the age of 76.
Crowds lined the streets as a hearse carrying Osbourne’s casket made its way through central Birmingham, his hometown.
Osbourne is remembered as one of the most influential figures in British rock and heavy metal music.
Born and raised in Birmingham, he rose to global fame in the 1970s with Black Sabbath, whose groundbreaking sound shaped the future of metal music.
With their dark, ground-breaking sound, the band earned international acclaim and commercial success. Osbourne adopted the moniker “Prince of Darkness,” a persona that would follow him throughout his five-decade career.
Earlier this month, he returned to the stage with Black Sabbath for what would be their final concert on July 5 at Villa Park in Aston -- his hometown.
It marked the first time in 20 years he had performed with the band.
