This is the heartwarming moment locals rescued a stranded dog perched on a rock during a flood.

Maricel Navarro and her younger sibling saved the helpless stray canine from a waterlogged street amid heavy rainfall in Zambales, the Philippines.

Footage shows the youngster lifting the shivering pooch using a white sack as a makeshift glove on the morning of July 24.

She then carefully carried the animal to safety and placed it on the roadside.

Maricel said: 'The dog was affectionate and did not show any signs of aggression. When we returned home and peeked out the window, it was no longer on the street.'
