Humanitarian aid airdropped into Gaza as famine deepens under Israeli blockade
- GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JULY 31, 2025: Military cargo planes dropped humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip on Thursday, July 31, amid Israel's strict blockade.
On March 2, the Israeli government announced the suspension of all humanitarian aid and fuel shipments to Gaza, along with the closure of all border crossings.
During this time, Israeli military operations continued across the enclave, displacing thousands of Palestinians as hunger levels in Gaza reached unprecedented highs.
Reports indicate that women and children have been particularly affected by the growing food crisis. Despite international appeals to lift the blockade and grant access to aid organizations, the Israeli government has refused to ease the restrictions.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 147 people, including 88 children, have died of starvation since Israel launched its relentless offensive in October 2023. In total, more than 60,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children, were killed.
On Monday, Israeli rights groups B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, citing the systematic destruction of Palestinian society and the deliberate dismantling of the territory’s healthcare system.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
