Storyline: European executives praise China's manufacturing prowess, call for deeper cooperation [Voice_over] As China’s manufacturing and innovation capacity rapidly expands, more European business leaders are urging cooperation instead of confrontation with Chinese partners. From smart factories to advanced supply chains, German business leaders visiting China say it’s time to learn, adapt, and work together, rather than raise barriers. [Sound_bite] Klaus Kerth, Managing Director, Fibro Rotary Tables Corporation: "I think they are very much surprised how far ahead China is already in certain ways. And they think, OK, we need to watch out that China does not surpass us. But I think in certain ways, China has already surpassed us for three or four times. I mean, here in this factory, if you look along the line, you don't see many people anymore. So it gets more and more automated and more and more standardized as well." [Sound_bite] Philipp Hess, Global Sales Director, Bilstein Group: "Now speaking maybe, as a German, I would see that we would have to step up our game as German car industry, learn from the Chinese and really adapt to it, and face the competition." [Sound_bite] James Sessions, Senior Vice President, Century3 Europe Corporation: "I think it's good to have competition. I think it makes companies better when there's competition. I think it makes countries better when there's competition. So I'm against trade barriers and tariffs and this sort of thing." [Sound_bite] Bernold Richerzhagen, President, Synova S.A.: "So we should concentrate on the areas where we are strong and, and try to cooperate to exchange and rather than trying to protect just by rules, by tariffs and so on. We already depend very much on our partners. Now in many areas, if you look into the medicine, battery technology, telecommunication and so on, we are so much dependent on the other.
