US, Los Angeles: Santa Clarita Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After SUV Rolls Shears Hydrant and Floods Road
Los Angeles, United States - August 01, 2025 08/01/2025 12:03 am GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A man is behind bars after a violent rollover crash launched his SUV onto a fire hydrant, unleashing a torrent of water that flooded a major roadway in Santa Clarita early this morning. The crash occurred just after midnight in the 28700 block of Newhall Ranch Road, where a Dodge Durango reportedly rolled multiple times before coming to rest upside down on top of a sheared hydrant. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered the SUV partially submerged in a massive geyser of water gushing into the street. The hydrant continued to spew thousands of gallons for over an hour, sending water cascading across the roadway and disrupting traffic. The driver, who remained at the scene, was subjected to a series of field sobriety tests before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Drone footage featured here has been reviewed and verified by Key News Network LLC. This aerial UAV footage complies with and conforms to the FAA Part 107 guidelines. All operations were conducted by FAA-certified Part 107 UAS pilot(s).
