Woman looking for work handwrites 100 letters to brands - and it works
A content creator looking for work ditched DMs and emails and handwrote 100 letters to companies - and it worked.
Amma Antwi, 34, who goes by the name DSG on social media, thought up the vintage stunt to kick-start her new business after going full-time as a content creator in July.
She quit her admin job in April because her online presence was growing and she wanted to give it her undivided attention.
Amma bought pink paper - her favourite colour - and matching envelopes and sat in her local library for two days from 10am to 5pm in July.
She wrote individual letters to 100 brands asking to work with them by creating content which promotes their products.
Then she spent £169 on first-class stamps and posted her stack of envelopes.
Amma has since heard back from photography company Neewer, and is in talks with Specsavers and Airbnb.
Amma, from Battersea, London, said: "I'm over the moon to have had responses to the letters."
"I know how great it feels to get a handwritten letter - I love it."
"I just wanted them to experience that, and I thought it will help me to stand out from all the DMs and emails they get."
"I really enjoyed the process, it was really therapeutic."
"It was also a lovely break from being on a screen, and a lovely place to be."
"I was honestly shocked at the cost of sending them, but it felt good to be investing in myself."
Amma started part-time as a content creator two years ago - she usually sends up to 10 emails and DMs to brands each day, and has worked with Insta360 and Newmowa.
She last handwrote a letter aged eight, when she asked the manufacturers of Clusters cereal to take the almonds out.
Amma also bought a wax-seal sticker saying 'for you' to put on the envelopes.
She hoped her personal touch would encourage brands to visit her page.
She posted her old-school PR stunt on her social media, as @DSG, where it gathered 85K views and 14.3K likes on Tik Tok, and 27K views on Youtube - gaining her over 100 new subscribers in a day.
Lots of people praised her idea and commented on how lovely Amma's handwriting is.
"We forget how tiring handwriting is", she said, "I don't think I'll be able to write so many letters for a month, but I'm definitely going to do this again."
