BERLIN, GERMANY (AUG. 2, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL)

COMPLETE TO FOLLOW BERLIN, GERMANY - AUG. 2, 2025: Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered in Berlin on Saturday, Aug. 2, to protest Israel’s actions in Gaza and highlight the ongoing hunger crisis in the besieged enclave.

Protesters banged pots and pans with spoons, chanting slogans against Israel and calling for humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

The protest was halted by police, who ordered the crowd to disperse.

As some demonstrators continued the sit-in and chanting, officers forcibly intervened and detained many participants.

At least four individuals were detained during the protests.

Gaza is enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises in its history, with famine compounding an ongoing genocidal war perpetrated by Israel since Oct. 7, 2023.

Israel has fully closed all crossings into Gaza since March 2, 2025, blocking most food and medical supplies, which has exacerbated famine conditions.

On Saturday, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that seven more Palestinians, including a child, had died from starvation, raising the total death toll from hunger to 169, including 93 children, since Oct. 7, 2023.

Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 60,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
