A pet golden retriever was spotted carrying a shopping basket for its owner while walking home.

Footage shows the pooch named Butter gripping the woven container in its mouth with a loaf of sliced bread inside in Cebu, the Philippines.

Butter wore a blinking light collar and stayed on the pavement to safely travel along the roadside.

The dog followed the sidewalk independently, trailing behind its friend Peanut and their caretaker who walked about ten steps ahead.

Irish Cleo Ranylle Fernandez, who saw the dog on her way to work, said: ‘I was heading to the office when I saw the dogs. They are well-known in the area.

‘I approached Peanut and Butter and was mesmerised by how gentle they were. They walked calmly on the pavements without leashes.

‘They were so adorable. Butter even had a basket with bread.'
