TRUCKS MOVING TOWARDS GAZA WHILE CARRYING HUMANITARIAN AIDRESTRICTION: USERS MUST CREDIT “TURKISH RED CRESCENT” HANDOUT—EDITORIAL USE ONLY— RAFAH, EGYPT - AUG 4, 2025: The Turkish Red Crescent announced that 165 trucks carrying approximately 3,000 tons of food aid for Gazans suffering from famine have begun entering the region through the Rafah Border Crossing on Monday, Aug 4. The aid contains enough food to meet the monthly nutritional needs of 50,000 people. Despite ongoing challenges, Turkish Red Crescent teams, in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, are working to ensure that the aid is delivered to those in need in Gaza as quickly as possible. Despite repeated international appeals, Israel has maintained strict limitations on the number of aid trucks allowed into Gaza, far below the 500-truck daily minimum needed to address the deepening humanitarian crisis. The worsening conditions have led to an increase in starvation-related deaths, particularly among children and the elderly, health authorities in Gaza said. Israel has continued to impose a systematic starvation policy on approximately 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza by sealing off all crossings to aid shipments, which have been stranded at the border since March 2. The blockade has pushed the enclave into famine. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 60,800 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
