Couple left in agony from jellyfish stings on Thai 'White Lotus' island Koh Samui
A couple was left in agony after jellyfish stings on the Thai ‘White Lotus' island in Koh Samui.
Footage shows beach workers dousing the French holidaymaker, who was seated on a chair, with vinegar solution over the affected parts of her body.
Meanwhile, her partner stood still as staff carefully poured the substance on his arms and legs to neutralise the stinging cells, remove tentacles, and rinse the area with seawater on August 4.
The vacationer and his partner were later reportedly transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
Koh Samui experiences seasonal jellyfish blooms during the rainy season from May to October. These stings can cause painful irritation and, in some cases, severe reactions depending on the jellyfish species.
Local authorities put up warning signs advising swimmers to avoid certain areas and wear protective clothing. Some beaches may even temporarily close when jellyfish presence is high.
The island was the setting for the series The White Lotus.
