BLOOD BANK DEPARTMENTKHAN YOUNIS, PALESTINE - AUG. 4: Blood units collected in the West Bank were delivered to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on Monday, Aug. 4, as part of an emergency effort to address critical medical shortages in the Gaza Strip. The delivery was organized under a donation campaign led by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, launched in response to a worsening blood supply crisis fueled by the escalating number of casualties. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 60,800 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
