Frantic locals scrambled to collect anchovies from a washed-up fishing net.

Footage captured by Christian Guevarra shows residents picking up a school of fish that had beached on the shore of Sabang Vinzons in Camarines Norte, the Philippines.

Fishermen can be seen pulling the long mesh net ashore while others, including children, remove the trapped fish on July 30 afternoon.

Christian said: 'The sea suddenly stirred, and that's when the anchovies swarmed toward the shore. The fishermen called their neighbours for help, and they immediately rushed in to assist.'

Anchovies are abundant in Philippine waters due to the country's location within the Coral Triangle, a region with rich marine biodiversity and ideal conditions for small pelagic fish like anchovies to thrive.
